The wonderful feature we humans have is the ability to visualize something in detailed colorful 3D dimension before its reality. The hardest thing for most people to do is convey to someone else so they see it in the exact same detailed graphic as there mind sees it. As builders and home improvement specialist we face a constant dilemma of getting the customer to convey all the graphic details of a new bathroom or kitchen trapped inside there mind’s eye. So how do we get inside the mind of the customer, what doors are there available to open so we can see what information we can retrieve from them so you can describe the exact bathroom or kitchen you the builder or remodel person makes reality. You may want to start with you asking yourself how would you convey to someone what your mind has visioned and what information would the person who does the building or remodeling for you need to know so they see the exact same picture you have in your mind. You have heard being a good listener is often a good attribute in gathering information as well as helping establishing a foundation for preparing the questions needed to retrieve pertinent information so that your mind’s eye is seeing the same vision as the person you are trying to explain it to or retrieve information from. Take time and learn the different tools that can help you gather information in order to obtain the ability to transfer the information stored inside the mind’ eye of your customer and don’t assume you see what they want make sure. Being a good builder or remodeling company is more than physical ability to construct something you hope or think the customer wants is more often not what the customer had in mind. Take time to establish what is in there mind’s eye is the same as your mind’s eye then you can start asking questions in regards to qualifying them financially and what do they expect from you as the builder or remodeling company. Remember when you don’t take time to ask questions it may cost your company and the customer not only money but possibly future customers. Take pride in yourself as well as your company knowing you gave the customer what there mind’s eye visioned. |
