The Remodelors Council (RMC) had a busy and productive 2005, earning awards and distinctions for its members and its activities. Here are some of the highlights:
The RMC won a CADRE Award (Council Award Demonstrating Remodeling Excellence) presented by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) in the ‘large council’ category for Membership Recruitment and Retention.
The RMC also won the NAHB’s Large Council Membership Award, which was presented at the 2006 International Builders Show in Orlando, FL.
Local member Dan Bawden, JD, CGR, GMB, CAPS, of Legal Eagle Contractors, Inc. won the NAHB Remodeler of the Year Award.
The RMC launched the first Remodelors Council billboard campaign in the country aiming to help create consumer awareness and drive membership.
Lending a hand to the community and reaching out to the military, members of the RMC assembled and shipped care packages to troops overseas, donated gently used business clothing to Women Helping Women – a group helping single mothers obtain gainful employment – and collected clothing and Christmas gifts for The Women’s Center. Some RMC members also dressed as ‘Elves’ while they assembled brand new bicycles for underprivileged children at the Associate Council’s Annual ‘Adopt-A-Family’ festivities.
Another gesture of support for the U.S. military troops was the RMC’s participation in the annual AIA Sandcastle Building Contest on Galveston Island’s East Beach. The council selected “Gone But Not Forgotten” as the theme for its sculpture, a wall that honored Texan soldiers who had fallen during the war on terror.
In response to the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, several RMC members participated in distributing food at the Houston Food Bank to help support the survivors of those destructive storms. |
